Physical Education & Health

Games are played with an emphasis on participation and enjoyment rather than competition and winning. The final score is important but soon forgotten. There are formal games and activities as well as informal play. Materials and equipment are available for use by the children. The emphasis is always to promote physical health, balanced wellbeing, and a life-long enjoyment of physical and outdoor activity.

Students participate in Hoop time, cluster and interschool swimming, athletics and cross country running.

BWCS does not require students to participate in competitive sport but will support students with the desire to play competitive sport to do so. We pride ourselves on being able to offer all students the opportunity to participate, not just a select few.

Weekly lessons in Physical Education are provided for all students with skill development a focus of this program. Students are exposed to a wide range of sports and skills through the Physical Education program. Sessions are also provided by visiting sports clinics. Students are also offered opportunities to participate in district sporting programs and competitions including Kanga 8 Cricket and Hoop time Basketball.

All students participate in our school swimming program each year. Lessons are conducted by Austswim trained instructors.

All students participate in local athletics sports days with other local schools. Opportunities are available for children to participate at division, regional and state level.
